Here at Prime Cellar, we do everything we can to ensure that the wine you order from us gets to you in perfect condition. The first step is a quick weather check.
When We Ship
During summer and winter, wine shipped across the country can be exposed to extreme temperature fluctuations leading to undesirable off notes. Don’t worry though, if it’s too hot or too cold to ship wine, we can hold your wine for you in our temperature-controlled warehouse until it’s safe to ship. Just buy the wine you want today and let us know that you want us to wait on shipping. Then we’ll keep the wine safely stored until the spring or fall when the temperatures are more moderate.
That being said, we also only ship wine on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We do this because we don’t want your wine to sit in a warehouse over the weekend; we want your wine to get to you in as little time as possible. However, if you need your wine more quickly and you’ve determined that the weather is acceptable, we can make arrangements to ship ASAP.
How We Ship

When it’s time to ship the wine, it all starts at our warehouse where we get busy packing your wine in molded pulp wine shippers. These wine shippers are designed to nest together efficiently, helping to save on space. Molded wine shippers are made from 100% post-consumer waste, making them a great alternative to polystyrene foam and plastic trays for wine shipping. These environmentally conscious shippers are economical, non-toxic, sustainable, biodegradable, and compostable!
After your wine is packed, we offer two carriers to get your wine to your door. FedEx is a nationally-recognized courier service that can deliver your wine to any state that allows direct shipping.
GSO, or Golden State Overnight, is a regional courier offering delivery to states in the western US. Customers in California, New Mexico, and Nevada can often receive their wine the next day after shipping.
Please be aware that both FedEx and GSO require an adult signature when delivering alcohol. We recommend that you deliver to a business so you can be sure someone will be there to accept the package. Otherwise, your wine will end up going back to the courier’s warehouse to wait for the next delivery day.
Where We Ship
Keep in mind that we can’t ship to every state due to local laws that limit the import of alcohol. For now, the states we ship to are: AK, CA, DC, ID, LA, MO, NE, NV, NH, NM, ND, OR, VA, WV, WY. For an explanation of the state of US alcohol shipping laws, check out this article.
And that’s how we ship it!
