DescriptionLewis Cellars Cuvee L Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, California, USA 2001
Wine SpectatorCombines power with finesse. Pure, rich, polished Cabernet fruit, dark berry, subtle oak, sandalwood and cedar are slow in emerging but do so in a very pleasing manner, ending with kirsch, black licorice and dense berry flavors. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.—2001 California Cabernet blind retrospective (June 2011). Drink now through 2022. 125 cases made. — JL
ROBERT PARKERPackaged in a heavy bottle with a wax capsule, the dark ruby/purple-colored 2001 Cuvee L (93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc) displays a fragrant perfume of cedar, new saddle leather, black currants, plums, and a hint of figs. With broad, expansive, fleshy flavors and moderate tannin in the finish, it remains youthful and in need of another 1-2 years of bottle age. It should drink well for 12-15 years.
