WINE ADVOCATE
The dark ruby-colored 2002 Gevrey-Chambertin En Motrot was harvested at 13.5% natural potential alcohol. Its spicy, blackberry-dominated nose leads to a medium-bodied character with outstanding balance, breadth, and depth of fruit. Loads of licorice-laced black cherries and flowers can be discerned in this velvety wine.

BURGHOUND
This quite closely resembles the villages but there is slightly better underlying material and better overall harmony. The tannins in particular are finer and though the mid-palate is sweet, rich, supple and round, there is racy finishing acidity which adds lift and freshness to the finish. (in barrel)

VINOUS
Full red-ruby. Black fruits, smoked meat and oak on the nose. Silky but tightly wound, with notes of black raspberry, licorice, game and torrefaction. Boasts good volume but finishes a bit clenched, with less early length than the “regular” Gevrey-Chambertin.
