Description
Pierre Matrot, Meursault Perrieres Premier Cru, France 2002ST 93+ | VINOUSPure, sharply delineated aromas of lemon, pineapple, minerals and crushed stone. Large-scaled, silky and dense; this has real grand cru palate presence and breadth. The best of these 2002s today by a clear margin. Finishes powerful, rich and very long, with gripping flavors of lime and grapefruit. Matrot's Meursault Perrieres from successful vintages routinely repays a decade or more of cellaring. |
BH 93 | BURGHOUNDA very fine and understated, ultra refined and pure, intensely floral and spicy nose that is so seductive that one can simply smell this wine and enjoy it. The flavors are so detailed and delineated that they seem to be crafted from liquid stone as the minerality is nothing other than pungent, it is so strong. This is still enormously backward, to the extent that there is a greenness to the wine, not in an under ripe sense but it's almost raw it is so youthful. In sum, this is like rolling rocks around in your mouth with plenty of firm but ripe buffering acidity. A great effort and one that should age beautifully. |
