Description
Tor Wines Heritage Clones Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville, USA 2002
RP 92+ | Robert ParkerFashioned at the beginning of his career as a winemaker, Tor Kenward’s 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Heritage Clone was limited in production and somewhat of an experiment by Tor before he jumped head first into the art and craft of winemaking. This dark purple, dense, medium to full-bodied 2002 is a youngster, maybe even a baby, in terms of its development. Primarily from two vineyards (Stanton and Money Lane), the wine offers loads of cassis fruit and a whiff of blueberry pie intermixed with barrique smells and crushed minerals. Tor told me that 6% Petit Verdot was blended with 94% Cabernet Sauvignon. Forget this 2002 for another 4-5 years and drink it over the following 20 years. |
WS 87 | Wine SpectatorA sleek, trim yet richly concentrated effort, with a well-centered beam of raspberry, currant and wild berry fruit, finishing with a burst of ripe fruit, cedar and olive. Impressive for its range of flavors and finesse. |
