Description
Domaine Francois Raveneau Chapelot, Chablis Premier Cru, France 2005ST 93 | STEPHEN TANZERGood pale yellow. Pure, steely aromas of lemon drop, minerals and powdered stone. Dry and classic, conveying an impression of brooding power. And yet this high-pitched, penetrating wine comes across as more elegant and delicate than the Montee de Tonnerre. Saturates the palate with lemon and crushed stone on the very long, almost painful aftertaste. |
BH 92 | BURGHOUNDWhile there are golden hints to the edge the appearance is still quite youthful. The highly expressive nose adds to the impression of youthful freshness as there remains some vestiges of primary fruit though the bulk of the aromatic profile is composed of secondary yellow orchard fruit, iodine, wet stone and floral hints. There is excellent concentration and focused power to the energetic and softly mineral-driven medium-bodied flavors that possess fine concentration that is typical of the '05 vintage, all wrapped in a strikingly long, dry and beautifully complex finale. What isn't typical though for the average 05 today is just how vibrant and light on its feet this is and while the '05 Chapelot has largely reached its peak it should hold effortlessly for years to come. In a word, impressive. |
