Description
2005 Louis Jadot Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Cote de Nuits, Burgundy, France
WS 94 | Wine SpectatorPure aromas and flavors of black cherry, blackberry and plum, with a dense profile and supple texture. Tightly wound now, with red currant and mineral elements that move in on the finish. Should become more elegant with time. Best from 2014 through 2035. |
ST 94 | VINOUSGood full red-ruby. Elegant aromas of black raspberry, black cherry and licorice. Dense, sappy and sweet, with outstanding mid-palate energy for such a smooth wine. Throws off notes of licorice, sandalwood, cola and minerals. Finishes very long and vibrant, with a powerful but integrated tannic structure and convincing minerality. A great vintage for this bottling. |
WA (93-95) | WINE ADVOCATECharred meat, black currant, and wet stone characterize the bouquet of Jadot’s 2005 Clos Vougeot. Savory, salty, brightly-fruited and invigoratingly juicy on the palate, this displays more energy and acidity than I would have expected from the appellation. For all of the clarity and juiciness of this wine’s fruit, grilled meat and stony earthiness combined with the emergence of formidable tannins and subtle but persistent cyanic and iodine notes to turn its formidably long finish somewhat austere. |
