Description
Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Les Cras, Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru, France 2007ST 92+ | VINOUSGood medium red. Reticent but pure aromas of medicinal cherry, menthol and red licorice. Rather compact and imploded on the palate, with a strong stony quality and tannins that reach the molars. This shows none of the easy sweetness and open-knit fleshy character that characterize so many 2007s, but it finishes subtle and quite long. Should prove to be a vin de garde in the context of the vintage: I'd wait six or seven years. |
BH 92 | BURGHOUNDBrilliant ruby. A highly complex nose of raspberry, strawberry and blueberry aromas precedes the detailed, precise and palate staining flavors that seem to be constructed on a base of pungent minerality that suffuses the wine from start to finish, all wrapped in an explosively long finish. This has real verve with perhaps a bit more power and muscle than usual. In a word, impressive. |
WA 92 | WINE ADVOCATEThe 2007 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras has an open, earthy bouquet with scents of undergrowth, morels, a slather of marmalade and dried orange peel. The palate displays fine structure with generous, fleshy red berry fruit mingling with cracked black pepper and smoke. There is a gutsiness to this Chambolle, which is just beginning to enter its drinking plateau. Excellent. Drink now-2020. |
