DescriptionDomaine Latour Giraud Les Charmes, Meursault Premier Cru, France 2007
VINOUSPale yellow. Discreet aromas of lemon and vanilla. Quite tight in the mouth, with apple, lemon and oak flavors and a slight resiny nuance. Perhaps a bit less precise in the middle than the 2008 version, but the finish features racy acidity and excellent lemony length.
WINE ADVOCATELemon zest, chalk dust, brine, sweat, and vanillin combine intriguingly in the nose of Latour-Giraud’s 2007 Meursault Charmes. This is a bit bifurcated right now on the palate, with notes of barrel and a hint of warmth separated from the generous sense of ripe peach and lemon. The finish here – which adds village typical suggestions of toasted grain – is no less lingering than that of its Poruzots sibling. I’d want to revisit this short term before assessing its further potential, though.
