Description
Hundred Acre Fortification Port, Napa Valley, USA 2007ST 93 | VINOUSGood medium ruby. Wild, high-toned, rather exotic aromas of mescal, apricot eau de vie and mint. Compellingly rich and deep, with intense, primary black cherry fruit complemented by lower-toned nuts and raisins. Already makes a great drink but I'd hold this for at least several years to allow its components to harmonize. My sample remained vibrant for 72 hours in the recorked bottle. Since Jayson Woodbridge introduced this wine with the 2004 vintage (he describes it as "the first true single-vineyard cabernet sauvignon port ever made"--it's from Kayli Morgan), it has been consistently superb, though with some vintages more primary and ruby in style and others showing more tawny port notes. This 2007 offers the best of both worlds. |
WS 93 | WINE SPECTATORRich and intriguing, with espresso, cigar box and toffee notes up front, revealing a core of ripe blackberry and chocolate-covered cherry flavors on the finish. The tannins give this a velvety texture. Drink now through 2030. 50 cases made. |
