ROBERT PARKER
Deep garnet colored with a lingering touch of purple, the 2007 J Daniel Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon has a beautifully expressive nose of warm cassis, blackberry compote and blueberry pie with touches of baking spices, vanilla pod, mocha, forest floor and black olives plus a waft of violets. Big, super rich and full-bodied, it delivers powerful, mouth-filling black fruit layers with a plush frame and invigorating freshness, finishing with incredible length and perfume.

VINOUS
Bright ruby. Knockout nose offers everything from liqueur-like black raspberry and blueberry to dark chocolate, crushed-rock minerality and captivating violet and rose petal notes. A repeating element of saline minerality gives the middle palate lovely definition and verve, with the ripe fruit element coming across as quite youthful. Finishes with a firm spine of tooth-dusting tannins and terrific slowly mounting length. This wine was "limp" for a while, noted Lail, but today it's showing beautifully. (16.4% alcohol; 75% new oak)
