VINOUS (ANTONIO GALLONI)Kistler's 2014 Pinot Noir Silver Belt Cuvée Natalie emerges from a site planted with both Swan and Calera clone Pinot. Quite unusually for a Kistler Pinot, the Cuvée Natalie does not offer much in the way of near-term appeal, but rather it comes across as a wine that is going to need time to fully come together. The flavors are intense, dark and powerful. Smoke, black cherry, plum and licorice extend into a long finish supported by beams of firm tannin. The Cuvée Natalie is shaping up to be a real jewel of a wine.
ROBERT PARKERThe Silver Belt Cuvee Natalie Pinot Noir has more Swan clone in it than the Kistler Vineyard wine. Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir Cuvee Natalie Silver Belt has a lovely floral nose with notes of lavender and red roses over a core of raspberry leaves, wild strawberries and forest floor. Medium-bodied, it has a refreshing line of acid and wonderfully ripe, silky tannins supporting the intense, perfumed red berry flavors, finishing with an herbal lift.
