Georges Laval Cumieres Premier Cru Brut (1.5 L). Champagne, FranceAG 88 | Antonio GalloniLaval’s NV Brut Premier Cru Cumieres comes across as understated and even a bit fragile at times. Nevertheless, there is gorgeous purity to the dried apricot and pear flavors. Sweet floral notes appear later, adding fragrance and further complexity. All the elements of the house style are evident, even in this small-scaled Champagne. This release is based on the 2008 vintage, 50% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Meunier and 30% Pinot Noir, which includes addition of 5% 2006 Pinot Noir that spent two years in barrel. |
