2015 YVON METRAS FLEURIE

$72/bottle
Yvon Métras has roots (several-generations deep) in the Beaujolais wine farms and he began to vinify his first wines in the family domaine in 1988 but in the early years he was mostly selling his grapes to the coopérative. Influenced by Marcel Lapierre, Yvon Métras changed his winemaking/growing practices and joined the vibrant group of natural winemakers who were only 4 at the time. The wines of Yvon Métras are not always easy to get, especially abroad where the demand is bigger than the alloted volumes of the importers; you must remember that his vineyard surface is particularly modest, it’s 5 or 6 hectares.

2012 CLOS SAINT-JEAN LA COMBE DES FOUS, CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE

$109/bottle
96 points, Wine Advocate
The 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape la Combe des Fous is another gorgeous wine from this estate that offers incredible richness while never seeming heavy, cumbersome or over-the-top. A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and the rest Muscardin, Vaccarese and Cinsault, it exhibits thrilling cassis, black raspberry, chocolate, crushed flowers and exotic spice. Full-bodied, seamless and incredibly elegant, it has the polish and balance to drink nicely now, but will evolve for 15 years or more.

2014 KISTLER “CUVEE NATALIE-SILVER BELT” PINOT NOIR

$149/bottle
95 points, Robert Parker
The Silver Belt Cuvee Natalie Pinot Noir has more Swan clone in it than the Kistler Vineyard wine. Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2014 Pinot Noir Cuvee Natalie Silver Belt has a lovely floral nose with notes of lavender and red roses over a core of raspberry leaves, wild strawberries and forest floor. Medium-bodied, it has a refreshing line of acid and wonderfully ripe, silky tannins supporting the intense, perfumed red berry flavors, finishing with an herbal lift.

2007 PHILLIPONNAT CUVEE 1522

$99/bottle

This name commemorates the year in which the Philipponnat family settled in the village of Ay, in the heart of Champagne. As far back as the Philipponnat archives go, there are records of the family ancestors, the first of whom, Apvril le Philipponnat, was an “owner of vines at Le Leon, between Ay and Dizy, from 1522. The exceptional 1522 is produced from the finest Philipponnat wines, most of which are fermented in wooden casks
