Description
2008 Andre Clouet 'Le Clos' Bouzy Grand Cru Brut (1.5 L), Champagne, FranceWA 95+ | WINE ADVOCATEBottled exclusively in magnums, Cloutet's 2008 Bouzy Grand Cru Le Clos is from a 0.5-hectare clos with old vines inside the historic domaine. Fermented in oak, the golden colored 2008 Le Clos is very pure yet complex on the densely scented nose that has a nice oxidative touch with chalk and discreet oak and mushroom aromas. Very clear and precise. The palate is dense and tensioned, very fresh and elegant and reveals a very long and tightly structured finish with richness, saltiness and purity. Sure, this 2008 is still far too young to be served and fully praised today, but it goes with great hope into the future. |
AG 92 | ANTONIO GALLONIClouet's 2008 Brut Millesime shows quite a bit more tension and focus than the 2007, hardly a surprise given then personality of the vintage. Bright, saline notes frame expressive red fruits, flowers and sweet spices. The 2008 Brut is a gorgeous wine with plenty of appeal today, but it will also develop beautifully in bottle. Stylistically it is less overt than the 2007 but places more emphasis on length. Brut Millesime is mostly Pinot, with 30-40% Chardonnay. |
