Since 1983, Denis Bachelet has been creating world-renowned wines at his tiny estate in Gevrey-Chambertin. Bachelet’s philosophy, “La finesse avant tout” – finesse before all things, manifests in his meticulous attention to every step of the wine-making process, from planting to harvest. The result is the creation of pure, graceful wines, full of elegant beauty and refinement.

2015 DOMAINE DENIS BACHELET LES CORBEAUX VIEILLES VIGNES
$209.98
The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux is beautiful, wafting from the glass with notes of wild blueberries, blackberries, rose petal and wood smoke, elegantly framed by new oak. On the palate, the wine is supple, expansive and quite generous and gourmand in style, its tannins concealed by an ample core of fruit. Bachelet observes that this parcel, located between Mazis-Chambertin and Fonteny, possesses clay-rich soils that tend to give muscular, virile wines. To temper that tendency, he does few punch downs (a practice he started in 2014) and finds the results more elegant—a contention it would be difficult to dispute.

2015 DOMAINE DENIS BACHELET CHARMES-CHAMBERTIN GRAND CRU VIEILLES VIGNES
$595.00
96 points, Wine Advocate
Denis Bachelet’s 2015 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes is brilliant, soaring from the glass with a dramatic bouquet of plum, wild berries, rose petal and orange rind, elegantly framed by creamy new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and multidimensional, with excellent depth and mid-palate dimension, incredibly velvety tannins, succulent acids and a long, saline finish. Despite this fabulously expansive Charmes’s textural grace and refinement, considerable structure is lurking beneath the surface, and it will reward patience.

2015 DOMAINE DENIS BACHELET GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN LES EVOCELLES
$168.00
91 points, Wine Advocate
A touch darker in profile than the Vieilles Vignes, offering up notes of cassis, dark wild berries, plum, cocoa nib and grilled game. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and complete, more tensile than the Vieilles Vignes bottling, with a bright line of acidity and chalkier tannins.

2015 DOMAINE DENIS BACHELET GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN VIEILLES VIGNES
$138.00
90-92 points, Wine Advocate
The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes has a very well-defined bouquet with dark cherries, bergamot and flint-like aromas that unfurl with glee. There is superb focus here, a palpable sense of vigor and joie-de-vivre. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red and black fruit that are intertwined with filigree tannin. Then there is a strong saline undertow to this village cru that takes you towards the subtle spicy notes that furnish the finish. This is just superb.
