In the western hills of Oakville off Highway 29 sits one of the most storied wineries in California, Harlan Estate. Founded by William “Bill” Harlan in 1984, Harlan Estate has year in and year out produced one of the finest wines, and certainly one of the highest scoring wines in the Napa Valley.
2011 HARLAN ESTATE
93 points, Robert Parker
More dense, tannic, complex and fuller-bodied than Harlan’s 2011 The Maiden is the 2011 Harlan Estate. Its plum/purple color is followed by a sweet perfume of camphor, blackcurrants, lead pencil shavings, Christmas fruitcake and hints of forest floor and underbrush. Deep, round and generous with silky tannins and a forward, evolved style, this beauty should drink well for 15-18 years.
