The holidays are fast approaching like a charging rhinoceros, so why not sit back, kick up your heels, and drink some Champagne? It’s not like the rhino’s going to care. And this wine has gas in it!
2010 DEMIERE ANSIOT NEYROT
92 points, Wine Enthusiast
Based in the Côte des Blancs Grand Cru village of Oger, this producer draws on some very fine vines. That superior fruit gives this vintage wine its texture, minerality and intensity. Crisp with acidity and a flinty texture, it still needs further time to develop. Drink from 2019.
NV SAVART L’OUVERTURE
Fruit for Savart’s ‘l’Ouverture’ cuvée comes from the clay-based soils of Ecueil, all farmed organically and without pesticides. This blanc de noirs is crafted form 100% Pinot Noir, showing a gorgeous golden hue in the glass. Aromas of crisp apple and pear dominate, with a palate equally fruit-forward, coupled with a strong chalky minerality.
NV SAVART L’ ACCOMPLIE
Regarded as one of the the most interesting producers in Champagne, Frederic Savart imparts his talents on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines, situated in the neighboring villages of Eceuil and Villers-aux-Noeuds. L’Accomplie is an 80/20 blend of Pinot Noir and Chard, with half of the cuvée coming from the current vintage and the other half coming from the previous. Aged in both neutral oak and stainless steel; aromatic, bright, and a real treat to drink.
NV LES MESNIL BLANC DE BLANCS
This is 100% Chardonnay from the exceptional Grand Cru Village of Les Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Cote des Blancs – the finest village for Chardonnay in all of Champagne. The wine offers an intensity, minerality and depth of flavour which mark it as exceptional. We found citrus, fresh brioche, fresh mushroom, lemon pith, chalky elements and lightly grilled nuts and brilliant freshness and life. The palate is mineral, intense, crisp yet creamy and precise.
